Sharing Reflections

by Robin Raj

End-of year reflections may well be better after a little holiday rest. Thanks in large part to many of you, 2012 has kept the Citizen team typically busy. And while we know change often happens slowly, the pace of change in 2012 seemed to unfold at breakneck speed.

Looking back, here's what we saw and what we shared:

Amnesty International- We started the year by launching “One More Voice,” a global collaboration with more than two dozen directors, the International Quorum of Motion Picture Directors, and film composer Hans Zimmer to commemorate Amnesty’s 50th anniversary.

Boston Common Asset Management –  We helped this thought-leading investment firm initiate a rebranding effort, new campaign, and website development to promote socially responsible investing and greater transparency as the means to deliver positive and sustainable fiscal performance to shareholders.

Breathe Project (The Heinz Endowments)–  Continuing momentum from 2011, we produced new broadcast and online campaign elements to advance this unique multi-stakeholder initiative that’s brought together more than 50 partners, from U.S. Steel to the Sierra Club, to advance public health through cleaner air standards.

Corporation For Battery Recycling– Together with our friends at Blu Skye Sustainability and the newly formed CBR, we began development of a campaign framework and program identity to support a new broad-based battery recycling effort.

Earth 911– We partnered with our good friends at Earth911 to advance new recycling programs in major metropolitan markets.

Essess –  We worked with this innovative start-up create a brand platform, brand identity and website in order to pursue its mission of reducingenergy consumption by connecting home & building owners with the information they need to make smarter decisions.

Fisker Automotive– We began production of a launch video to help promote the introduction of the awe-inspiring Fisker Atlantic, the latest entry into the high-end electric vehicle market.

JD Pence Swimwear –  We helped our good friends in Portland Oregon create a new identity and develop a new website for their leading local swimwear company.

Lymphatic Research Foundation –  Lymphedema and lymphatic illnesses affect some 300 million people; we’re helping this non-profit foundation develop a new positioning, identity, website and campaign to communicate this largely untold story.

NRDC & Green Sports Project– We continued work with our long-time client NRDC to prepare to film and document the growing Green Sports movement, and the widespread adoption of sustainable practices by Major League Baseball, the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, and USTA.

Stuart Foundation– Citizen worked closely with this San Francisco-based non-profit orgto create a new identity and brand platform for Ed Equals, a new initiative that demonstrates how education equates to dramatic improvements in the lives of foster youth.

Sustainable Brands – We’re proud to continue our close partnership with Sustainable Brands, developing branding and creative elements to promote their industry-leading conferences for the 6th year in a row.

Texas Association Against Sexual Assault – We worked with this innovative non-profit and our friends at Ntropic to develop a campaign that’s set to launch in theaters in 2013 in order to break down behaviors and gender stereotypes that lead to sexual violence.

What I See  (Global Women's Project) – Citizen worked with directors on each continent to interview more than 100 women as part of the What I See Project – a unique art project and cultural exploration of how women from all walks of life see themselves and experience life; the website and project will debut in early 2013.

WWF Climatesavers –  Citizen is working with our friends at WWF to develop creative materials to support the release of the Gigaton Report, a groundbreaking study co-authored by WWF, Carbon Disclosure Project and McKinsey & Company that demonstrates how the corporate sector can substantially reduce carbon emissions while increasing their ROI.

Yerdle– 2012 will be remembered for the rise of the sharing economy. Citizen was happy to  help our good friends Adam Werbach and Andy Ruben develop creative materials & messaging to support the launch of Yerdle, their innovative new site that lets friends share with friends.

No wonder we’re all so weary.  Above all, we are grateful for your collaboration, creativity, and for demonstrating we can, individually and collectively, do well by doing good.

We have every reason to be blessed – for the work we do and who we do it with.  It’s time to eat, drink and be merry. But most of all, it’s time to rest and renew.

Here’s to 2013.
